LEIS:
Leis are traditionally used in the Hawaiian
islands to welcome visitors and celebrate special occasions. They are
a symbol of aloha, love, appreciation, and accomplishment. Leis are also
used to beautifully accent hula costumes, luaus, weddings, and parties.
In addition to leis that are worn around the neck there are also leis
worn on the head, ankles, and wrists.
Around the
world, people have celebrated life's most special moments with traditional
flower leis. Lei-giving is a timeless tradition, spanning centuries and
continents. The ancient Greeks recognized people of distinction and crowned
the victors of the Pythian games. In modern times, this beautiful custom
has fully blossomed in the islands of Hawaii, where many people wear leis
as part of their everyday attire and, more notably, to celebrate special
moments.
Flower leis
are worldwide symbols of honor, love, friendship, congratulations, good
luck, welcome, and farewell.
Present
a lei, and give someone the most beautiful and unique floral gift
in the world! Present a lei with a kiss to the cheek, or with a hug, or
a simple handshake. Give it to that special person by draping the garland
around his or her shoulders. This custom comes from the Hawaiian culture
which considers the head and shoulders sacred parts of the body.

COFFEE:
Hawaii is home to the only coffee grown commercially in the
United States. It was brought here in 1825 from a plantation near Rio
de Janeiro and flourished in the island's near perfect soil and weather
conditions. Today, Hawaiian coffee is famous the world over. The island
of Molokai is in the heart of Hawai'i, anchored between the islands of
Oahu and Maui. The coffee is grown about 100 miles northwest of another
famous coffee growing region, the Kona coast on the big island of Hawai'i.
The plantation
rests in the cool foothills below 5,000' Kamakou peak. Here 600 acres
of former pineapple land have become home to Hawaii's finest new crop
- 100% Moloka'i gourmet coffee.
